Welcome!
Hello all!
This place is meant to showcase a variety of things I have either inadvertently or purposely began collecting over the years. I got into Pokémon merchandise after playing through Pokémon HeartGold and the Japanese version of Pokémon Black. I consider myself a casual collector of bits and pieces of a particular Pokémon or line, but my favorite type from the Red/Blue days up to the present continues to be Grass. Mushrooms, my main collection, fall in this category in the games. (Note, however: mushrooms are actually the fruiting bodies of larger, subterranean, filamentous organisms that lack chloroplasts and thus are incapable of photosynthesis, so they don't technically qualify as "grass" types. But close enough?)
Anyway feel free to browse and enjoy. There's usually a story behind every item so don't hesitate to ask if you want more background information on something.
Forgive the overlap, too. Currently working to find the best way to organize things. :)
Thanks!

Why mushrooms?
"What's so great about mushrooms?" you ask.
First and foremost, they are ubiquitous. They are master imitators and exhibit a variety of shapes and sizes. Some set up helpful relationships with other organisms and offer mutual, beneficial aid. Others selfishly infect and mummify other living creatures for their own personal growth. They are capable of causing a variety of diseases in humans and animals. Eaten, they be quite the culinary delight, or they can unleash potent, debilitating, and oftentimes fatal neurotoxins that rapidly lead to gastroenteritis, liver (or kidney) toxicity, and organ failure.
But for the most part I just like them 'cause they look cool. :D And there's so many different kinds!
Not to mention my favorite electronic band is Infected Mushroom!
I really began to appreciate them when I took an undergrad medical mycology course and studied how they (and other microorganisms) cause disease in people. It's really fascinating if you look into it from both the mushrooms' and clinicians' perspectives.
Interestingly enough the creators of the Pokemon characters seem familiar with IRL creature characteristics I was not aware of, so I'm always looking for new bits of information in the games that relate back to the real world. Let me know if you come across anything interesting you'd like to share. :) It doesn't just have to be about mushrooms!
